Finalmente, Plain White T’s han escogido como nuevo single Boomerang, segundo corte de su interesante disco de finales del 2010 titulado Wonders of the Younger.
Recordemos que su primer single fue Rhythm of Love, tema que todavía podemos ver en cadenas de videoclips nacionales y que les devolvió cierta repercusión mediática.
Decir Plain White T’s es pensar en su hit mundial Hey There Delilah del 2008 y hasta que no publicaron Rhythm of Love, siempre pensé que los de Chicago se quedarían con ese estigma one-hit wonder.
Contra pronóstico, este primer single ha tenido una relativa buena acogida, top 8 en el Adult Pop Songs del Billboard, incluso llegando a colarse en nuestro país.
Personalmente, si no fuese la época del año que es, pensaría que este tema tiene el potencial suficiente como para ser uno de los importantes de cara este verano.
Conjeturas aparte, el segundo single se titula Boomerang que sigue en esa nueva línea popera con toques California sound que los de Chicago han tomado con este Wonder of Younger.
Sobre el videoclip, a pesar de que el mundo stop-motion, a estas alturas, comienza a dejar pocas grietas para la originalidad, consigue pasar el corte mezclando esta técnica con un escenario giratorio y estética minimalista.
Incluyendo un homenaje al revolucionario videoclip de Oren Lavie, este Boomerang transmite el aire romántico-inocentón del tema original.
